Obituary for Eleanor Jean Southward

Eleanor Jean Southward age 97 of Kenton died Fri. Jan. 6, 2023 at Blanchard Place. She was born Dec. 1, 2025 in Hardin County to the late Bruce & Opal (Owens) Phillips. She married Russell F. Southward in 1942 and they celebrated 68 years of marriage until his passing in 2010.
Mrs. Southward is survived by a son Gary (Gloria) Southward, NC, two grandsons Christopher & David Southward both of NC. She was preceded in death by a son Wayne E. Southward who died infancy, and two brothers Norman and Larry Phillips.
She was a member of Patterson United Methodist Church. Mrs. Southward was an LPN at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Hardin County Home, and for several local physicians. She enjoyed flower gardening, collecting glass figurines, crocheting, knitting, and embroidery. A funeral service will be held at 1:30PM Tue. Jan. 10, 2023 in Clark Shields Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Pummell officiating. Interment will follow in Patterson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:30PM-1:30PM before the service Tue. Jan. 10, 2023. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in care of Clark Shields Funeral Home 301 S. Patterson St. Forest, OH 45843.
