Kenton Wrestlers Finish 8th at Weekend Meet

Kenton High School Coed Varsity Wrestling finishes 8th place at Wapakoneta High School.
KHS wrestling placed 3 wrestlers on the podium on their way to the 8th place team finish.
Noah Eikenbary after finishing in 2nd in 2018 and 4th in 2017 joins a short list of Kenton wrestlers from Kenton to win a WBL Championship in recent history. (Dylan Castle – 2015, Gabe King – 2009, Chris Arnold – 2009) Eikenbary (220) interred the tournament undefeated in WBL wrestling. He remained that way earning his first WBL Championship. Eikenbary the #1 seed started the day beating Tyson Williamson of Elida with a pin at 1:14. Advancing to the semi finals Eikenbary pinned Joey Hale of Shawnee in 24 seconds putting him into the finals. Noah won by regular decision 3-0 over Gordo Vega of Defiance securing the championship.
Carter Bays (152) put his mark on the tournament by placing 3rd in the 152 lbs weight group. Bays placed 4th as a freshman in 2017. Bays started the tournament by beating #1 seed Jacob Hatchett of Defiance in a 15-6 major decision win. Bay the dropped a tough fought match to Trent Fairburn of Shawnee in 12-0 major decision win. Fairburn went on the win the championship in a 9-7 regular decision win over Jacob Schlesselman. Bays then rebounded back beating Hatchett in their second meeting this time in a 4-3 decision.
Ethan Manns (172) earned his first trip to the podium this year with a great 4th place finish. Manns started the tournament with a tough pinfall loss to Logan Muhlenkamp of Celina. Manns fought back and won a 3-1 regular decision win over #3 seed Angelo Gonzalez of Defiance. Manns dropped his final match to Muhlenkamp holding his ground and keep Muhlenkamp to a 8-1 major decision.
