The Kenton Wildcats stormed back from 16 points down to defeat Bluffton 66-65 in non-league boys basketball play Saturday.

The Wildcats (13-7) trailed 26-10 in the second quarter, and the Pirates (14-7) held a 14-point lead seconds into the fourth period. Led by Jayden Cornell and Jaron Sharp, who combined to score 23 of Kenton’s 26 fourth-quarter points, the Wildcats clawed back into the game. A three-point from Cornell drew the Cats to within 65-64 with 22 seconds left, and his two foul shots seconds later put Kenton on top for the first time since 6-5 early in the first quarter. Cornell then came up with a pair of steals in the closing moments to help the Cats seal the come-from-behind victory.

Luke Denecker had 23 points and five rebounds for Bluffton while Jared Piercefield and Baylor Garmatter scored 14 points apiece.

Sharp had 29 points and 12 rebounds to lead all players in both categories. Cornell finished with 24 points and was named the Ace Hardware Player of the Game.
