.Around the Building: Students in Megan Looney’s Creative Writing class now have their stories published in a book called “Spine Chillers 2021.” Elementary students have a challenge to complete 1000 acts of kindness. Each act of kindness is represented by hearts placed on the kindness tree Gopher Den area. Teachers have also been supporting the theme by doing lessons/activities in their classrooms.
.We also paused for a moment to remember our long-time friend and supporter of Ridgemont Schools, Cheryl France. Cheryl was a 36 year staff member who helped lead the FCCLA program, direct musicals and Company R, and was also a 6 ½ year board member. As a board member, Cheryl was involved in levy support and from the beginning was instrumental in the design of our building. While we are saddened by her passing, let us remember and celebrate her life and the impact that she had on the Ridgemont Community.
The Board approved the motions for the retirement of Mariann Galyk, Visual Arts Teacher and Frank Galyk, Route Bus Driver. Mrs. Galyk was a substitute teacher and was hired as an art teacher and she has shared her talents with the students for over 22 years. Mr. Galyk was a substitute bus driver and was hired as a route driver and has served the students for over 10 years. Both have spent numerous hours going above and beyond for the students of Ridgemont. Thank you Marianne and Frank for your dedication to Ridgemont.
Lauren Fulwider and Nikia Rudasill were approved as volunteer assistant softball coaches for the 2021-2022 school year. Josh Shreve was approved as a volunteer assistant baseball coach for the 2021-2022 school year. Three TEMP substitute teachers were approved for the 2021-2022 school year and 3 classified substitutes were also approved.
Motions were approved for the payment of reading tutoring, book study stipend, and a stipend for Orton Gillingham training for teachers. The Committee and Work Session list was approved and the OHSAA membership for 2022-2023 was approved. The board approved the amounts and rates as they were presented.
