Veterans’ Service Commission Seeking Honor Guard Volunteers

Written by on March 16, 2022

The Veterans’ Service Commission (VSC) is looking for veterans from around Hardin County who would like to volunteer their time by participating on an Honor Guard that
will provide military funeral honors to local county veterans.

Steven Gossard, Executive Director /County Veteran Service Officer, is currently accepting names of volunteers who would like to be added to the list. Specifically, the
Honor Guard will provide, when a family of a deceased veteran request it, military rites which will consist of a three-volley salute, presenting and folding of a U.S. flag and the playing of taps, depending on the availability of volunteers.

The all-volunteer Honor Guard which is being sponsored by the Veterans’ Service Commission is being created to help fill the void of inactive Honor Guards from the
various Post throughout the county. Volunteers are needed so our deceased veterans can receive their military honors that they deserve.

All interested veterans who want to volunteer are encouraged to call 419-674-2219, so you can provide your name and availability to the County Veteran Service Officer.

Consider volunteering today.
