Three Vehicle Crash in Marion County Claims Life of Caledonia Woman

One person died in a three vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of County Roads 167 and 174 in Marion County Wednesday evening.

According to a release from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash started when a car being driven vy 61 year old Timothy Jarvis, who was driving west on 167, ran a stop sign at 174.

His car struck a southbound car being operated by 23 year old Noah Schriml.

Jarvis’ car then crossed the center line and struck a pickup being operated by 40 year old Joshua Coleman.

A passenger in Jarvis’ car, 79 year old Ruth Salceda, was transported to Marion General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Schriml was flown from the scene to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

All others involved received minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Marion – Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on February 15, 2023, at approximately 5:08 PM, on Likens Road (County Road 167) at Pole Lane Road (County Road 174) in Marion County.

The crash involved a 2016 Nissan Altima driven by Timothy O. Jarvis, age 61, of Marion, Ohio. The right front passenger was Becky S. Manley, age 56, of Marion, Ohio. The right rear passenger was Ruth A. Salceda, age 79, of Caledonia, Ohio. The second vehicle involved was a 2012 Honda Civic driven by Noah J. Schriml, age 23, of Marion, Ohio. The third vehicle involved was a 2022 GMC Yukon driven by Joshua M. Coleman, age 40, of Marion, Ohio.

The preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Jarvis was traveling westbound on Likens Road. Mr. Schriml was traveling southbound on Pole Lane Road. Mr. Coleman was stopped on Likens Road on the west side of Pole Lane Road facing east. Mr. Jarvis’ Nissan failed to stop for the stop signs at Pole Lane Road, entered the intersection, and struck Mr. Schriml’s Honda. The Honda traveled off the southwest side of the intersection and came to rest in a field. The Nissan spun, crossed the centerline, and struck Mr. Coleman’s GMC.

Ms. Salceda was transported from the scene by Marion Township EMS to Marion General Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

Mr. Schriml sustained serious injuries and was flown from the scene by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center. Mr. Coleman sustained minor injuries. Mr. Jarvis sustained possible injuries. Ms. Manley sustained minor injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Marion Township Fire and EMS, Pleasant Township EMS, MedFlight, Ron’s Towing, B&B Towing, and Ed’s 24 Hour Service.
