of Kenton

A funeral service for Sidney V. Gerber will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at the New Hope Church in Kenton with Pastor Jason Manns officiating. A graveside committal service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Greenwood Cemetery in Degraff, Ohio. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sidney passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at the Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 14, 1942 in St. Mary’s, Pennsylvania to the late Vincent and Elizabeth (Fischer) Gerber. On February 12, 1966 he married the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Janet Neighbarger and she survives in Kenton.

Also surviving are 5 children; Clifford (Christine) Gerber, Barbara Nakamura, Donna (Steve) Klingler, Clay (Danielle) Gerber, Margaret (Jason) Manns, 3 sisters; Christine J. Fink, Gloria Gerber, Florence (Mike) Krull, a brother; Ted Gerber, 15 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by an infant sister; Molly Gerber.

Sidney was a proud United States Air Force Veteran. He served in Anchorage Alaska, during the 1964 earthquake.

He worked for Rockwell and ArvinMeritor for over 30 years before retiring.

Sidney was a member of the New Hope Church in Kenton, the Indian Lake Moose and the Kenton Elks.

In his free time, Sidney enjoyed hunting, gardening or just about anything that involved being outdoors. He also loved to spend time with his grandchildren whenever he could.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Sidney’s honor may be made to New Hope Church in Kenton.
