Funeral services for Ruth Joan (Hastings) Bacon will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 16, 2023 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Pastor Cynthia Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Dunkirk Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at the funeral home. 

Joan passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Arlington. She was born at home in Dola on February 28, 1938 to the late Walter Ralph and Ruth Naomi (Motter) Hastings. On January 8, 1958 she married Richard Leroy Bacon and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2003.

Surviving are a son; Michael Todd (Christine) Bacon of Dunkirk, 2 grandchildren; Michelle (Rodney) Mowery of Ada, Kevin Bacon of Dunkirk, 2 great-grandchildren; Faith LaPlant, Brynlee LaPlant and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Ralph, Richard, Paul and Gerald Hastings and her best friend; Martha Hodge.

Joan was a 1956 graduate of Hardin Northern High School. She worked for UAP in Forest for over 38 years before retiring.

Joan was a current member of the Grant Fellowship Church and a past member of the Kenton Elks. In her free time, she enjoyed going shopping and meeting up with her fellow retirees for get togethers as well as her classmates for their class reunions.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joan’s honor may be made to the Grant Fellowship Church or Not By Choice.
