Mary Lou (Kordenbrock) Sweet 93

of Kenton

A mass of christian burial for Mary Lou Sweet will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenton with Father Ed Shikina officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Kenton. Friends and family may visit from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton. 

Mary Lou passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital E.R. in Kenton. She was born on August 1, 1929 in Kenton to the late Urban and Marie (Kelly) Krodenbrock. On November 12, 1965 she married Paul E. Sweet and he preceded her in death in May of 1988.

Surviving are a daughter; Lois Chamberlin of Kenton, 2 step-children; Patty (William) Humpfera of Venice, Florida, Michael (Beth) Sweet of Lewis Center, 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sons; David Gordon, Dennis Gordan, David Sweet, Jerry Sweet, a brother; James U. Kordenbrock, a sister-in-law; Ann Koch-Kordenbrock,a son-in-law; Michael E. Chamberlin, and 2 great-granddaughters; Hannah Grace Gordon, Jaylnn Adamson.

Mary Lou was a 1947 graduate of Kenton High School. She worked in the Kenton area her entire life.

She loved music of all kinds but especially enjoyed being the choir director for many years at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenton where she was a life member. 

Faith, family and friends were the best part of her life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenton or the Hardin County Council on Aging.
