Findlay – The Findlay Post Ohio State Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and the Findlay Police Department, worked two OVI enforcement efforts in April to remove impaired drivers from local roadways and help reduce the number of fatal traffic crashes in Hancock County.
Both efforts were worked on Friday and Saturday nights and focused on impaired driving. The first effort was worked with Findlay PD from April 12 through April 13. The second enforcement effort was worked with the Hancock County S.O. on April 19 through April 20.
Officers, deputies, and troopers made 179 traffic stops, with 88 of those stops resulting in a traffic citation. 19 individuals were arrested for OVI, 10 individuals received seat belt citations, and there were 7 drug related arrests.
“These two enforcement efforts demonstrate how our collaborative efforts make our community safer,” said Lt. Matt Crow, the Findlay Post Commander. “With the increase in fatal traffic crashes we have seen in Hancock County this year, Sheriff Heldman, Chief Dunbar and I are committed to working together to save lives through traffic safety initiatives,” said Lt. Crow.
All three agencies are planning to work other enforcement efforts together throughout the remainder of this year which will focus on seat belt enforcement and distracted driving.
