Life Flight helicopters will now stock blood on board

Life Flight helicopters in the Mercy Health fleet will now stock and carry blood on board for patients in need of lifesaving transfusions.
According to a release, Mercy Health invested in storage facilities at each of the four Life Flight locations to house and maintain blood right at the base. Life Flight maintains air bases at Fulton County Airport, Bluffton Airport, and Sandusky County Regional Airport.
Before this change, patients would receive treatment once arriving to the hospital.
