Lions Meeting January 18, 2023

The Kenton Lions club held its meeting on Wednesday January 18, 2023, at the Kenton Elks.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Lion President Bill Keller with 21members and 1 guest present.

President Lion Bill Keller led with the pledge and the prayer.

The meeting was adjourned and reconvened at 6:58 pm following a meal.

Guest speaker Mike Tessmer was introduced by President Lion Bill Keller.

Mr Tessmer was accompanied by pilot dog Scarlet. Mr. Tessmer shared some history as well as current updates for the Pilot Dog facilities. He also talked about characteristics needed for dogs to be successful pilot service dogs and new training techniques being used. Pamphlets were provided to members about Pilot Dogs and Becoming a Co-Pilot puppy raiser. A demonstration was provided with Scarlet leading Mr. Tessmer while blindfolded. Question and answer period followed his presentation.

Nomination of new officers was conducted.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:59 pm.

Followed by the singing of the Lions Roar.

50/50 drawing was won by Lion Todd Oates.
