Illnesses Force Ridgemont to Cancel In-Person Classes Today

The following was posted on the Ridgemont Local Schools Facebook page:

The Ridgemont local school district will now be closed tomorrow (Tuesday 12/13/22) due to illness. Our absence numbers exceeded the 15% threshold for student absences allowed.

There have been a number of students coming to school with illnesses and they have been sent home. Multiple reports of students coming to school while still being within the 24 hour window from having a fever.

The empty building will be sanitized by our maintenance staff.

There will be NO after school activities today (12/12/22) or tomorrow (12/13/22). No games, no practices, no clubs.

Grades 7 through 12 will be doing remote learning. The schedule that students should follow has been shared multiple times. It will be shared again. Students will need to follow the protocols or they will be counted absent, which I know is a distinct possibility with the amount of sickness. Please call in any students too sick to attend online school.

Grades K through 6 will be doing remote learning. The students will be sent a Google Meet link to their school email before 9:30 am. Students will be expected to join the 10:00 Google Meet with their class. At this time attendance will be taken and the teacher will remind the students of their daily expectations for the remote learning day. Camera should be on and students need to remain in the camera the entirety of the Google Meet.

Following the Google Meet students will need to complete 30 minutes of I-Ready Math and 30 Minutes of I-Ready Reading.

**If your student does not have a Chromebook, they will need to read a book and write or draw about it, grade level appropriate work.
