Forest Mayor Forming Market Square Steering/ Advisory Committee

Written by on March 31, 2022

Forest Mayor Dean Hankins is seeking 5 to 6 individuals to serve on the Market Square Steering/ Advisory Committee.

At the March Council meeting this year the Forest Village Council officially designated the Corner Lot, with the Gazebo, Owned by the Village as Market Square. The Maintenance Crew will be installing underground electrical service, complete landscaping and decorative lighting, and the Corner, marker, Stone is being cleaned and bleached so that Clark-Shield’s Funeral Home can have it “Engraved” with the name of the lot and year it was founded.

“We are obtaining “rental spot” flush to ground markers for 18, 10’ x10’ foot “rental” lots and are also planning to supply, limited, freshwater access in the area.
It is our intent to use the “Square” for activities and events throughout the year. It is my hope to start with at least 1 event per month and expand as interest builds.:

Currently some of the events in planning are:

.Community Safety Days

.“Pet Palosa”: pet care vendors. Human society/ Dog Warden meet & greet for adoption, etc

.Craft Show

.Car Show and Parts Swap Meet

.Christmas on the Square to Coincide with Christmas in the park

.Farmers Market

.Registration and send off for the Barbarians Motorcycle Run for Tree Town Festival Support.

Suggestions and Ideas are welcome and part of what the steering committee will be tasked with, as well as establishing “rental fees”, contracts and over site of the Square.

Qualifications for membership on the Market Square Steering Committee are:

.Live near or within the Village of Forest

.Have an interest in seeing the Lima Street revitalized with Market Square as the center point and supportive of this “Business District”

.Willingness to help plan and manage activities at Market Square.

Anyone interested being part of this exciting adventure should email Mayor Hankins with their intent to or call the Village Offices at 459-2273-2500 and leave a message for the Mayor.
