Change in Pattern for Traffic Lights at Walmart Coming Monday; Plans in the Works to Remove Lights

Written by on February 24, 2023

The signal lights on State Route 67, which is East Columbus Street at the entrance into the Walmart Shopping Plaza are scheduled for a change starting Monday February 27, 2023.

The lights currently blink all red, but starting Monday the signal lights on East Columbus Street will be changed to blink yellow, or caution.

The exit from the shopping center parking area will remain a blinking red, or stop.

According to a release from Kenton’s Safety Service Director Cindy Murray, the change is being made after consulting with the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The City reminds everyone that the speed limit through the area is 45 mph.

Motorists should use caution in this area as everyone gets used to this new change.

Eventually, the plan is to remove the signal light and place a STOP sign at the parking lot exit.

That will be completed after completing a series of steps to ensure the safety of the intersection.
