State Representative And Citizens Speak To Council

State Representative, Jon Cross, spoke to the Council to update on the current situation in Columbus. Cross said that it has been a great first 30 days at the statehouse. Cross proposed an open invitation to the 83rd House District office, citing that its “The peoples office”. Cross also announced that he was appointed to four standing committees. These include Energy and Natural Resources, Finance, Financial Institutions and, Public Utilities. Cross went on to say that these committees are strong committees for input from the citizens of the 83rd District. Representative Cross’s office can be reached at (614)-466-3819.

 

Russ Cahill addressed Council to thank city crews for making improvements around the city. These improvements include the filling of potholes and the removal of unneeded signs. Cahill also extended an offer to the City, by offering to purchase a crack sealer to be used to seal cracks that become a problem on city streets. The City has yet to make a decision of the offer.

 

Don Barker also addressed Council during the meeting. Barker, a retired member of the Kenton City Crew, addressed Council on the work of the current Street Crew. According to Barker, these Crews will gain valuable experience on how to properly plow streets, fill holes and, other jobs. Barker cited the low amount of manpower and experience as problems the current crew faces. However, Barker said that the crews have done a great job for the work they have done.

 

The next meeting of the Kenton City Council will February 25th, at 7 o’clock in Council Chambers.
