Obituary for Gary Lee Beach Sr.

Gary Lee Beach, Sr., age 71, of Findlay, died Monday, August 5, 2019, at his residence. He was born on April 21, 1948, in Findlay, Ohio to the late Harold H. and Martha M. (Schumaker) Beach. He married Susan J. Walker on January 24, 1970 and she died on May 8, 2006. He is survived by his son, Gary Lee Beach Jr. of Findlay; daughters: Jeannette (DJ) Hummel and Martha Beach, both of Findlay; grandchildren: Logan Hummel, Haleigh Beach, Savannah Hummel, and Jaden Beach; sister-in-law, Sally (Roger) Stokes; brother-in-law, Bill (Barb) Walker; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Ray Walker (wife, Mary survives); and Phyllis Hines. Gary was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp, and was the recipient of the purple heart. He retired in 2004 from Whirlpool. He coached midget football at Van Buren and also coached softball. He was a Hancock County Auxillary Deputy and enjoyed Notre Dame football. He enjoyed classic cars, especially since he owns a ’71 Monte Carlo and a ’68 Chevelle. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00pm on Friday, August 9, 2019 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, downtown, located at 617 West Main Cross Street in Findlay. Father Michael Zacharius will officiate and interment will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery, where full military rites will be performed by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
