WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) sent a letter to United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue regarding the severe and unprecedented rainfall impacting farmers in Northwest and West Central Ohio.

The letter urges Secretary Perdue to approve an agriculture disaster declaration should the agency receive one from the state of Ohio.

“Over the last several weeks my office has spoken to countless farmers and producers worried about the inevitable loss in crops this season,” Latta writes. “I share their concerns, and I am deeply worried about the impact this weather will have on the livelihood of farmers and the entire region. As the United State Department of Agriculture begins to review the situation in our region of Ohio, I urge you to approve an agriculture disaster declaration and continue to support American farmers through this difficult time.”
