Kenton City School Board approves changes to Re-Opening, accepts donations

The Kenton City School Board approved the changes made to the Hardin County Re-Opening Agreement. The policy was sent to Kenton City School District residents on October 15th. The updated agreement removes the color system from dictating the instructional model for the district. Instead, it will be a case-by-case basis using information provided by the Kenton-Hardin Health Department, current crisis data, and other health-related guidance and mandates.

“We will make decisions for the Kenton City Schools based on our current situation and communicate the plan to all members of our school community, just like we do for calamity days,” the letter explained.

During the Monday night meeting, the Board accepted donations to Kenton Senior High School, the Choir program, and the Kenton Athletic Fund from area businesses, organizations and sponsors totaling more than $5,500.

Also approved during the meeting were supplemental contracts for winter athletic coaches and trainers, sports volunteers, substitutes and educational assistants. The Board adopted, revised or replaced 17 policies and administrative guidelines.

A special Board meeting to approve new hires is scheduled for October 28th at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be held virtually.

The next regular Kenton City School Board meeting will be held on November 16th at 7 p.m.
