Kenton City Police Chief Dennis Musser was welcomed at a recent Kenton Rotary Club meeting.

Chief Dennis Musser

Chief Musser updated the club on the happenings at police department. As many departments are facing staffing issues Kenton is currently fully staffed including two School Resource Officers that help build relationships with the students as well as add a level of security. Chief Musser admitted that retaining officers is sometimes a challenge when other departments, with larger budgets, offer large signing bonuses or can afford a larger wage. Dennis commented on the current make up of his department saying that there are two groups, some are the more senior officers while the other are much younger. He says it make for an interesting mix at the office. Centralized dispatch was added a couple of years ago to the county with some apprehension but because of the cooperation of the city and the county the partnership has been working. Musser credits the ability of the two agencies to work well together. That is not always the case in other counties he followed up.

Chief Musser fielded several question from the Rotarians and was met with many words of thanks for keeping Kenton safe.
