ODNR Dredge Dirt Giveaway Program Explained

Written by on April 3, 2023

Indian Lake State Park officials took time to explain the Dredge Dirt Giveaway Program.

Material is removed from the lake by pipeline from a dredge on a barge and is deposited at ODNR disposal sites.

Past dredging activities have moved more than 100,000 cubic yards of material from the lake to Moundwood.

ODNR’s dredge dirt giveaway program is an opportunity to take the material for free.

This allows ODNR to continue to use disposal sites for future dredging projects, and residents can receive nutrient-rich soil for their private use.

ODNR will be on-site at the Moundwood dredge material relocation area, weather permitting, to load dirt on the first and third Fridays of the month from 8 am until noon starting May 5 until September 15.
