Obituary for Margaret Ann (Smith) Kin

Margaret Ann (Smith) Kin passed away Sunday morning, November 6, at her home near Kirby, Ohio. She was 91 years old. Margaret Ann,  was born 8 Sep 1931 to Carl Michael and Pauline “Margaret” (Homan) Smith, of Tiffin, who proceeded her in death. She was the last of a family of seven children: brothers Carl Michael Smith, Jr. and Thomas E. Smith, and sisters Evelyn L Schetter, Kathleen R Scherger, Marilyn R Podach, and Doris J Wise. 

Margaret Ann was a 1949 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School. She married Robert Dale Kin 22 Nov 1951, and they were the parents of six children: Michael Alan Kin (Kathy) of rural Forest; Stephen Robert Kin (Jan Leiter) of rural Upper Sandusky; Susan Ann Heator, of Kansas City; John Dennis Kin (Kathrene) of Huntington Beach, California; Deborah Jean Talbert (Allyn) of rural Kenton; and Jeffery Jerome Kin (Marcos Oliveira), of Sarasota, Florida. 

            Also surviving are grandchildren Jennifer Kin, Michelle Stoneburner, Joshua Kin, Brandon Kin, Terry Kin, Jackie Peless, Beverly Knapp, Shawn Heator, Ronald Heator, Jacob Kin, and step grandchildren Karissa Talbert, Tisha Young, and Robert Talbert; great grandchildren: Nova Haubert, Ronald Stoneburner, Thomas Stoneburner, Isaiah Stoneburner, Destany Stoneburner, Bastian Stoneburner, Carys Stoneburner, Hannah Kin, Emily Kin, Katelyn Kin, Paige Summers, Lauren Kin, Austin Kin, A J Peless, Kaitlyn Knapp, Curtis Knapp, James Heator, Cooper Heator, step great grandchildren: Victoria Blanks, George Blanks, Cameron, Justin, Caitlyn, and Kristin Young, Kayle Masters, Alyce Burchnell, Dylan Burchnell, Zachary Burchnell, Kailyn Carrier ; great great grandchildren: Ellora Jayne Bellman, Nevaeh Stoneburner, and Amiyah Beam, and step great great grandchildren Liam, Holden, Cali, and Melody Burchnell, Madaline, River, Rain, and Milo Masters, Atlas and Emberlie Burchnell. Two more great great grandchildren, Gianni Mari Stoneburner and Baby Boy Beam are expected in March 2023. A great granddaughter Ellora Faye Stoneburner, is deceased. 

            Margaret Ann enjoyed being outdoors and gardening while she was still able. She was a farm wife, and was no stranger to hard work with the livestock and in the fields. She loved traveling, and enjoyed her trips to see family and to the casinos in Las Vegas and Toledo. 

            Bingo was a favorite event, and playing cards and enjoying a meal with her friends at the bingo halls before the bingo began. The monthly Smith Family Dinners were something she looked forward to, along with gathering with her own ever growing family at the Royal Buffet for holidays and birthdays. She recently celebrated her 91st birthday there with her children and many of her grandchildren, great grandchildren,  and blew out the birthday candles with her great great granddaughter Ellora Jayne. 

            Being a 10+ year breast cancer survivor was a source of pride for Margaret Ann. She contributed to cancer charities, and Marching for Mousie was a highly successful fundraiser in her name. 

            Margaret Ann was proud of being computer savvy at her age, and loved playing computer games, keeping in touch through Facebook and Facetime. Saturdays would always find her watching the Ohio State Buckeyes football game on television. She was often deeply engrossed in a Hallmark movie with a glass of wine. 

            The family joins with great granddaughter Carys in saying, “I just loved that lady!” She will be missed.

            A private visitation for immediate family will be held at Bringman Clark Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky on Friday from 10-12, followed by a procession to St. Mary’s Chapel in Kirby, where a prayer service will be held at 12:30, followed by burial beside her husband of 68 years in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
