Obituary for Hearold E. Weihrauch, Sr.

Hearold E. Weihrauch, Sr. went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 21, 2023.  He was born August 7, 1930 to Edward and Emma (Karch) Weihrauch on the farm where he still lived.

He attended Arlington Local School and graduated in 1948.  He married his high school sweetheart, Doris Ann Crawford on May 7, 1949.  They enjoyed 61 years of marriage.  Doris preceded him in death, as well as his brother, Russell Weihrauch and son-in-law Jim Wehrle.

They had two children, a son, Junior (Annette) Weihrauch of Arlington and a daughter, Dottie (Ron) Cable of Findlay.  They had four grandchildren; Brent (Angie) Wehrle, Gwen (Steve) Johns, Jason (Elissa) Weihrauch, Jennifer (Shane) Cavinee.  Great grandchildren; Isaiah Johns, Trystin (Kyle) Kaplan, Mason, Ayden, Liam, Josie Cavinee, Karlie Weihrauch, Drew (Karlee) Bostic and great-great grandchildren: JoleeKate Kaplan, Maverick, Penelope and Sawyer Bostic.

Hearold was a life-long member of Good Hope Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council as deacon, trustee and elder. Hearold was a farmer his entire life. He worked for Smith Farm Implement for 20 years. He served for many years on the Board of Directors for the Arlington Elevator. Hearold enjoyed being a Trustee for Madison Township for 24 years. He was a faithful volunteer of the Arlington Fire Department for 20 years, during his tenure they started the Fireman’s BBQ dinners and Fireworks. Hearold was an Arlington Red Devil fan and enjoyed watching sports, having lunch at Jac n Do’s, going for his “little drives” in the afternoons and picking up his favorite peanut butter milkshake at the Dairy Dream in Dunkirk. He was a fun-loving ornery guy.

Hearold’s family would like to thank Hospice of Hancock County, and the Mennonite Home in Bluffton for their kind and caring support, as well as the many friends and neighbors who stopped by to share stories and kind thoughts. Memorials may be made to the Good Hope Lutheran Church, Hospice of Hancock County or the Arlington Fire Department.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 27, 2023 at 11:00 am at Good Home Lutheran Church with visitation an hour prior (10:00-11:00 am). Pastor Steve Ramsey officiating.
