Kenton High School Coed Varsity Wrestling falls to Shawnee High School 64-18

The Lima Shawnee wrestling team travelled to Kenton last night to face the Wildcats in the last WBL dual meet before conference championships this coming weekend. Shawnee, 4-4 in conference duals, defeated Kenton 64-18.

Before the dual meet started, Kenton recognized its’ senior wrestlers Aaron Modd, Gavin Manns, Antonio Pettit and Jace Perkins. There were also many alumni in attendance and past state placers Noah Eikenbary, Wade Burba and Dennis Cooper were recognized.

Kenton was only able to win two of the seven contested matches.  Senior, Aaron Modd, defeated Keeven Green by pin at 1:39 in the first period in the 144 lb weight class match.  Modd’s record improves to 7-2 in conference matches.  At 215 lbs, Matthew Handell, quickly pinned Gabe Jamison at :42 seconds.  Handell is 4-4 in the WBL.  Junior, Anthony Hunt, took a win by forfeit at 150 lbs.  Hunt’s record is 7-2 in the WBL and 29-7 overall.

The Wildcats ended the WBL regular season with team record of 1-8 with a sole win over Lima Bath.  Kenton will compete in the league championships this Saturday.
