Kenton City Council Holds First July Meeting

Last night the Kenton city Council held their first regular July meeting.
During the meeting they adopted an ordinance that allowed the safety Service director to advertise for bids for rock salt for the public works department and to be able to contract with the lowest or best bidder.
Additionally there were three other ordinances that were passed. First was an ordinance establishing a special revenue fund for Covid-19 funds.
The second was an ordinance regarding an additional seven appropriations for the year of 2020 including Covid-19 expense, fire building maintenance and general audit cost and two additional transfers were included into the ordinance transfers.
The final ordinance allowed the Mayor and or Safety Service Director to apply for a loan through the U.S Department of Agriculture.
In comments Taylor Klinger mentioned that the Quarry had sold 484 passes and there has been 35 pool parties sold. But the plan is to close the pool on August 9th with the expectation of pool parties which will continue until September. In regards to the Splash Pad, it will remain closed while the city waits for repairs to be done.
Additionally Mayor Webb commented that in regards to the new trash system that the beginning of the system has gone pretty smoothly and that if you have not gotten your initial start up bins you can contact the Water Department and they will assist you in getting them.
The next meeting of the Nuisance committee will be on Monday the 20th at 5:30 P.M and the next Finance committee meeting will be on Monday the 27th at 5:30 P.M.
The next meeting of the Kenton City Council will be held on Monday the 27th at 7 P.M.
