Joyce K. McCarty

Joyce K. McCarty, 79, of Kenton, passed away at 4:50 a.m., Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Kenton Nursing and Rehab Center.  She was born in Kenton on September 29, 1941 to the late Parl and Lois (Musgrave) Flinn.

Joyce married Lyle McCarty on June 9, 1963 and he preceded her in death on October 1, 1983. She is survived by four children; Lyle Richard McCarty of Lima, Michelle McCarty, Shawna McCarty and Craig McCarty all of Kenton.

She is also survived by her brother, Larry (Lillian) Flinn of Beavercreek, OH, sister, Jean (Richard) Dirkson of Kenton, three granddaughters; Cori

(Jason) Woodland, Lindi (Chris Hedges) Hartman, Joni (Mike) Coffey, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her son, Brian McCarty, brother, Tom Flinn and sister, Sharon

(Eugene) Bowers. Joyce graduated from Kenton High School in 1959. Joyce worked several jobs, including the Kenton Times, State of Ohio-Unemployment Office, before she remained at home to raise her children. She then worked at Brunsons Restaurant and then as a Security Guard for Meritor, retiring in 2001. Joyce was a member of First Baptist Church where she was active in the Women’s Missionary Society. She was a 7th Degree member of the Goshen-Grange.  A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 11:00am with Pastor B.J. Thomsen officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00am Thursday until time of service. Burial will be in Dunkirk Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church or Goshen Grange. The family would like to thank the staff of Bridge Palliative Care, Kenton Nursing and Rehab Center, Hardin Memorial Hospital and Kindred Home Health for the excellent care they provided Joyce.
