Change of Venue Request Filed for Kidnapping Suspect

Written by on March 1, 2022

The attorney for a man accused of kidnapping a 7 year old Kenton girl has requested a change of venue.

Attorney Elizabeth Smith filed the request in Hardin County Common Pleas Court on Monday on behalf of her client Charles Castle.

The court document shows that the request was made in order for Castle to receive a fair trial due to media coverage of all the proceedings in the case.

Multiple media outlets were named including WKTN that have actively reported on the details of the case.

The 57 year old Castle underwent a Competency Evaluation to determine if he is competent to stand trial on charges connected to the kidnapping of the girl.

He entered pleas of not guilty by reason of insanity on one count of aggravated attempted murder, one count of rape, 6 counts of kidnapping, three counts of tampering with evidence and one count each of endangering children, felonious assault, burglary and possessing criminal tools and is awaiting a hearing in Hardin County Common Pleas Court.

A status conference hearing has been set for 10am on Tuesday April 5.
