UNOH Commencement Exercises Set for June 9

Written by on May 30, 2019

The University of Northwestern Ohio’s 99th annual commencement exercises will be held this year on Sunday, June 9, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center. A total of 1,158 students from the College of Applied Technologies, College of Business, College of Health Professions, College of Occupational Professions, and Graduate College will be receiving their degrees and diplomas. There are 242 students who have earned two or more credentials.

This is the first year that the University has decided to split the graduation ceremony into two separate ceremonies. For the past decade, the graduating class at UNOH grew larger and larger, to the point that the stage was at maximum capacity for graduating students. To alleviate this situation, starting with the 2019 commencement exercises, there will be two ceremonies. The 10 a.m. ceremony will feature students who completed their education after the August, Fall, October, and November terms of 2018 along with January, Winter, February, and March terms of 2019. The 2 p.m. ceremony will feature graduates who will complete their education after the Spring, May, June, and Summer terms of 2019.

The University Grand Marshal this year is Mr. Tom Sypherd. Sypherd is a Master ASE Certified Instructor in the College of Applied Technologies. He is an instructor in both the Automotive and Diesel division as well as the Alternate Fuels program. Sypherd has been employed by UNOH for nearly 15 years. Joseph A. Chirico is the Student Assistant Marshal for this year’s graduating class.

The 2019 University of Northwestern Ohio graduates represent 36 states, including Puerto Rico (Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin), and 27 countries (Australia, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Egypt, England, France, Ireland, Jamaica, Mozambique, Netherlands, New Zealand, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, St. Lucia, Sweden, United Kingdom, Venezuela, Wales, and Zimbabwe).
