Two People Arrested in Incidents that Started This Past Wednesday

A Kenton man was arrested following an incident that occurred this past Wednesday evening.

 

According to a release from the Kenton Police Department, officers received information from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office regarding a wanted subject with stolen firearms at a residence in Kenton.

 

The suspect, identified as Zachary Spires was to be considered armed and dangerous.

 

Upon arrival at the residence located at 49 and a half Grape Street, suspected narcotics, numerous stolen firearms, ammunition and suspected ordinance were found and confiscated.

 

The resident, Seth Rigdon, was taken into custody on a parole violation, and charges of receiving stolen property and possession of narcotics are pending.

 

Spires was not at the Grape Street location, but he was arrested on Thursday following a short pursuit with police.

 

According to the release, officers attempted to stop a car on North Cherry Street that had been reported stolen in Marion County.

The driver, later identified as Spires, failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. It ended in the 600 block of East Columbus Street when the driver crashed the car.

He then fled on foot was apprehended a short time later.

 

A suspected stolen firearm was apprehended.

 

Spires was treated at Hardin Memorial Hospital and then transported to Multi County Jail in Marion.

 

He is being held on a parole violation and is facing numerous charges in Hancock, Hardin and Marion Counties.

 

Kenton Police were assisted on the scene by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, the Hardin County Special Response Team, Kenton Fire, BKP, the Allen County Bomb Squad at the Ohio State Patrol during the two incidents.
