A Tiffin man was arrested after a lengthy high speed pursuit with Findlay police officers Thursday afternoon.

According to a release from the Findlay Police Department, an officer was flagged down by a motorist on North Blanchard Street concerning a hit/skip accident where the other driver had fled the scene.

A traffic stop was attempted after the suspect’s vehicle was located.

The driver failed to stop and traveled to State Route 12 to Fostoria. In the process, the driver was running other vehicles off the roadway.

The pursuit, reaching speeds of up to 110 miles an hour, continued to State Route 18 to Tiffin and ended after the suspect’s vehicle broke down.

The driver, identified as 28 year old Ryan Walter Yoakum, refused to exit the car and shouted at officers to shoot him and kill him.

An officer eventually broke out the driver side window and Yoakum exited the vehicle and was arrested.

He was taken to the Hancock County Justice Center on charges of fleeing and eluding, leaving the scene of an accident and possession of drugs. He also had two felony warrants for his arrest out of Sandusky.

Officers seized drugs and approximately 40 needles in Yoakum’s vehicle.
