A Sycamore man died after a truck he was in went off the road and ended up in a creek in Wyandot County early this morning.

According to a release from Wyandot County Sheriff Michael Hetzel, 26 year old Jonathon K. Miller was a passenger in a car being driven south on Township Highway 136 by 29 year old Anthony C. Moler, also of Sycamore.

The vehicle struck an area of the roadway that had been washed away by flood waters causing it to go off the road and into the Spring Branch Run where it submerged below the water.

Moler was able to get out and go for help, but Miller was unable to be located.

It was not until the waters receded that rescue units were able to find the truck approximately 100 yards west of Township Highway 136.

Miller’s body was still inside. He was pronounced dead by the Wyandot County Coroner and was transported to the Lucas Batton Funeral Home.

Moler was treated and released at the scene by Sycamore EMS.

The crash remains under investigation.
