Second-Half Surge Leads Ontario Past Kenton 61-50

The Ontario Warriors posted their fourth straight win, rallying from an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat the Kenton Wildcats 61-50 in boys basketball play Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats led by 10 points in the first quarter, by nine points early in the second stanza, and by a 36-28 count at halftime.

The Warriors (5-2) outscored Kenton 17-4 in the third quarter to take a 45-40 lead and then held the Cats at arm’s length over the final eight minutes to get the victory.

Ontario’s second-half defense forced eight Kenton turnovers over the final two periods and held the Cats to 6-of-23 shooting from the floor after the Wildcats connected on 12-of-23 shots from the field in the first half. The Wildcats converted seven three-point shots over the first 16 minutes but were able to knock down just one three ball in the second half as their five-game win streak came to a halt.

The Wildcats (6-3) got 17 points and six rebounds from Jacob Eversole while Reed Cook had 11 points and Jayden Cornell scored 10 points.
