Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, the family of Richard L Winnett will hold a private service. A celebration of life service will be scheduled in the future.

He died on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Primrose Retirement Community in Findlay from complications of Covid-19. He was born on March 22, 1935 in Greenup, Illinois to the late Cole and Mary (Turner) Winnett. On November 20, 1959 he married Saundra L. Thomas and she preceded him in death on September 14, 2015.

Surviving are 3 daughters, Stephanie McCullough of Kenton, Tedi (Russell Skewes) Winnett of Union Grove, WI, Toni Morgan of Louisville, KY; and 4 grandchildren, Matt McCullough, Sarah (John) Blackstone, Freddie Morgan, and Makenzie Morgan. Along with 2 great-grandchildren,  Kaelinn Blackstone and Keleigh Blackstone; and 1 sister, Shirley Ann (Bill) Nelson of Plainfield, IN.

Richard was a US Navy Veteran serving from 1953 to 1957 on the U.S.S. Radford and the U.S.S. Phillip during the Korean War. He attended several of the Naval Destroyers reunions.

He was a plant manager for Universal Cooperative in Kenton retiring after 40 years . Richard was a member of Kenton Masonic Lodge where he was a Master Mason, Shriner, and a member of the Low 12 club, and a lifetime member of the Kenton Elks Lodge.

He also enjoyed reading, hiking, outdoors, and was a supporter of the environment. He was a genuine “observer of life”.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, Mary Lou Johnson Hardin County District Library, and Tin Can Sailors at P.O. Box 100 Somerset, MA 02726..
