Registration Open for Fall Palace Academy of the Arts Classes

Marion, Ohio – July 22, 2019 – The Palace Academy of the Arts, located at the historic Marion Palace Theatre, 276 West Center Street in downtown Marion, is a performing arts program of the Marion Palace Theatre. Registration is now open for group classes, private one-on-one classes, and one-day workshops scheduled to take place this fall.

Fall Session One runs six weeks beginning the week of August 19. Registration and fees are due one week before classes begin.

Group classes scheduled to meet on Mondays are Beginning Yoga (5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.), Youth Acting ages 8 to 10 years (7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) and Adult Acting (7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.). Tuesday class offerings include Dance Basics ages 6 to 8 years (4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.), Musical Theatre Dance ages 8-13 years (5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.), and Adult Tappercize (7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.). Wednesdays are dedicated to Advance Yoga (5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) and Youth Acting ages 11 to 14 years (7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) and ages 15 to 18 years (8:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.). On Thursdays, preschool ages 3 to 5 years will learn Music in Motion (1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.), ages 13 and up will be introduced to Musical Theatre Dance (5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.), and adults will participate in Broadway Dancercize (7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.). Class fees for six-week adult and youth classes are $70; preschool classes are $60; yoga classes are $48.

A variety of private one-on-one lessons are also offered at the Academy including voice, jazz, tap, hip hop, ballet, contemporary/lyrical dance, couple’s ballroom dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, piano, private acting, pageant preparation, job and college interview success, Broadway and theatre auditions, and public speaking. Private lessons are $35 per 30 minute class or $60 per 60 minute class. Couple’s dance is $55 per 30 minute class. Private lessons are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Adults will also have the opportunity to participate in the casual painting class titled “Cup and Canvas” at the Palace.

“Cup and Canvas” participants will meet in the Scharer Patron Lounge on Thursday, September 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Led by art instructor Anne Quilter, this casual class is a fun way to create art, enjoy a favorite beverage, and socialize with friends. Participants will receive direction for creating a work of art with acrylic paints. No experience is necessary and all supplies will be provided. Coffee drinks, wine, and soda beverages will be available. The cost for this class is $35 and includes all supplies and limited drinks. Sorry no walk-ups – all tickets must be purchased in advance in order for the instructor to prepare class materials. “Cup and Canvas” is sponsored by Whirlpool.
