Ben Logan Freshman Competes in District Golf Outing

After several rain delays the Boys Golf Southwest District was completed Monday at Beavercreek Golf Club.

Summitt Country Day won the event with a 338, followed by Kettering Alder's 341 and Oakwood at 342.

Individuals advancing were Grant Engle 73, Mason Wilt 76, and Dylan Stevens 77.

Ethan Ricketts played for Ben Logan and shot an 89. That placed him near the middle of the field of 72.

Ben Logan Coach Chris Conley said, "As a coach I've never witnessed a player's entire round so that was different. Tee to green I don't think Ethan could have played much better. He struggled though with chipping and putting. The encouraging part about that is, in my mind it's the easiest area to improve quickly. In addition Ethan is only a freshman so the experience will benefit him immensely."

Upper Sandusky Girls Tennis Team Loses Final Match of Regular Season

The Upper Sandusky girls tennis team finished the regular season with a record of 7 and 9 following a 5 to nothing loss to Bellevue Tuesday afternoon.

1S - Chloe Brubaker def. Sydney Schryer 6-4, 6-1

2S - Rayven Whyde def. Mady West 6-2, 7-6(7-4)

3S - Summer Strunk def. Danielle Conigy 6-2, 6-2

1D - Mackenna Peacock/Skyler Strunk def. Jodi Smalley/ Mara Smalley 6-2, 7-5

2D - Mady Brugnone/Wyanna Schalk def. Samantha Fagan/ Lyndsey McQuown 6-1, 6-0

JV - Abby Davidson (US) def. Ella Little 7-6(7-3)

Coach Aaron Frazee said, "A tough loss against  a good opponent to end the regular season for us.  Bellevue gave us  some trouble with some good hard serves.  They just really could hit the ball with pace that we don't get to see very often and we struggled to overcome that.  I thought Sydney Schryer played one of her best matches tonight even though the score doesn't reflect that.  She has played so tough for us at first singles all year and she hasn't been on the winning end very often, but this says an awful lot about her.  That she continues to compete until the very end and she should be very proud of her effort not only tonight but all season. The JV match was very exciting as well as Abby Davidson trailed 5-2 in her set and then won the next 4 games and ended up winning the tiebreaker 7-3.  Again, that says a ton about her desire to compete and that will be something to build on moving forward."

The Lady Rams begin sectional tournament play on Thursday.

Upper Sandusky Girls Tennis Team Loses to Ontario

The Upper Sandusky girls tennis team lost at Ontario Monday afternoon by a score of 4-1.

1S- Shivane Chawla (O) def. Sydney Schryer 6-0, 6-0

2S- Jordan Gardiner (O) def. Mady West 6-2, 7-6(7-5)

3S- Eve Dunn (O) def. Emma Schoenberger 4-6, 6-1, 6-3

2D- Jude Salyers/Lizzie Burron (O) def. Samantha Fagan/Lyndsey McQuown 6-1, 6-0

Coach Aaron Frazee said, "Even though we lost 4-1, I thought this was the best we had played in a while. Mady West and Emma Schoenberger both played perhaps their best match of the year.  Sydney had a really tough matchup as Shivane Chawla is a really good player. It was nice to get Mara and Jodi back on the winning track after a bit of a tough week last week."

Dani Conigy and Abby Davidson won a JV doubles match 6-2.

The Rams, who have a record of 7 and 8, have their final match of the regular season today against Bellevue before the sectional tournament on Thursday.

Upper Sandusky Girls Tennis Team Loses Weekend Match

The Upper Sandusky girls tennis team evened their record to 7 and 7 after losing at home to Tiffin Calvert Saturday morning.

The final was 4-1.

1S- Marie Brodman (C) def Sydney Schryer 6-1, 6-1
2S- Devyn Warnement (C) def Mady West 6-0, 6-0
3S- Maci Goshi (C) def Emma Schoenberger 6-0, 6-2
1D- Bri Coleman/ Elayna Kapelca (C) def Jodi Smalley/ Lyndsey McQuown 6-1, 7-6(7-5)
2D- Samantha Fagan/ Abby Davidson (US) def Emma Prince/ Marie Welter 6-3, 6-4

Caoch Aaron Frazee said, "We were without two of our regular varsity players today but Calvert played tremendous tennis and we just made too many mistakes.  Abby Davidson and Samantha Fagan were very strong at 2nd Doubles today and I'm glad they got a win together. It was probably the best they both had played all season.  We just continue to struggle (team-wise) with playing good, consistent tennis. We keep hovering around that .500 mark. We are trying to finish above it but we have a couple of tough matches remaining before sectionals. It should be interesting to see how our girls respond this week."

The Rams play at Ontario today before finishing the regular season at home Tuesday against Bellevue.
