Raymond Hord, 95 of Ridgeway

 

Funeral services for Raymond Hord will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 22, 2019 at The Price – McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Pastor David Robertson and Pastor Dennis Burns officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Wolfcreek Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the funeral home.

 

He died on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Kenton Nursing and Rehab.

 

He was born on August 1, 1923 in Kenton to the late Ray E. and Mary Isabelle (Benner) Hord. He was married to Vivian Beach for 72 yrs before she preceded him in death on May 5, 2015.

 

Surviving are a son; Ron (Deb) Hord of Kenton, Son-in-law; Harry Elsasser of Ridgeway. Sister; Linda Wroten of FL, Brother; Bobbie Hord of Kenton. Grandchildren; Scott (Kelli) Hord, Jason Hord, Jennifer Hiller, Melissa (Nick) Saltzman, Drew Elsasser, Abigail Krouse, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by Daughter; Deborah Elsasser. 2 sisters; Dixie Kidd and Lucille Deerwester and one Brother; Dalton Hord.

 

Raymond was a Kenton High School graduate and an WWII Army Veteran serving overseas. After the war, Raymond worked as a machinist and welder for Phillips and Davies as well as Superior Machine.

 

Raymond was a member of Faith Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He had a passion for firearms and became a member of the NRA.

 

After his retirement, Raymond enjoyed traveling with his wife and tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. He also enjoyed watching the OSU Buckeyes and Kenton Wildcat Football teams.
