Plane Crash Kills Two People in Allen County Thursday Afternoon

The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an airplane crash that killed two people in a field located southeast of the intersection of Tudor Road and Sandy Point Road, near Gomer in Allen County.

 

According to a release, at approximately 4:40 Thursday afternoon, troopers responded to a call of a plane in a field.

 

Upon arrival, it was found that a 1981 Beech A36 Fixed Wing Single-Engine Airplane had crashed.

 

The pilot and one passenger were pronounced dead on the scene by Allen County Coroner’s Assistant, Jamie Sizemore.

 

Their names have not yet been released pending next of kin notification.

 

Assisting on scene were troopers with the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Cairo-Monroe Fire and EMS, Allen County Coroner’s Office, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

 

The crash remains under investigation.
