One Killed in Celina from Monday Night Tornado

A round of severe weather caused many Hardin County residents to head to basements and other safe spaces to ride out the threat Monday night.
The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning around 11pm, which was set to expire at 11:30 but was extended until midnight.
The warning was issued when radar indicated rotation inside a thunderstorm that had already produced a tornado back into Indiana.
Sirens were activated around the county, but there were no reports of tornados being spotted, and the system rolled to the east by midnight.
No damage was reported around the county.
The same can’t be said of Celina in Mercer County, and around the city of Dayton.
One person was killed following a tornado that hit Celina last night. The death was confirmed by Mercer County authorities.
At least 7 people were seriously injured in Celina. Search and rescue operations were conducted overnight as emergency crews checked for residents trapped in their heavily damaged homes.
Widespread damage also occurred in the Dayton area.
WHIO TV 7 reported that over 40 people are being treated for injuries at Dayton area hospitals.
Power is out to numerous customers in the area.
Another round of severe weather in our region is possible again this afternoon and tonight. In fact, the National Weather Service indicates that isolated strong to severe storms will be possible into Thursday.
