Obituary for Robert H “Bob” Evans

Robert H. “Bob” Evans, 83 of Dunkirk passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 at his residence.  He was born on September 6, 1936 in Tipp City, Ohio to the late James Robert and Margaret (Smith) Evans.  Bob married Betty Emberling and she preceded him in death. He then married Sherolyn Guinn Gilroy on July 17, 2002 and she survives along with his daughter; Carol Ward of Kenton, his son, Ronald (Emma) Evans of Ada, step-son, Paul Gilroy of Carey and step-daughter Sherry Hintz of Findlay.  Bob is also survived by twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, son-in-law Gerry Pope of Kenton, brothers, John Evans of Piqua, Ryan Evans of Louisville, KY, Andy Perkins of Kenton, David (Robin) Perkins of Kenton and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Pope, step-father, Hobert Perkins, brothers, Jerry, Jack and Jimmy Evans, sister Evelyn Powell and one great-grandchild, Michael Ferrell.

Bob served his country proudly in the U.S. Army.  He was a member of the former Dunkirk Assembly of God.  Bob was the manager of Making Waves for Christ, TV-48 in Kenton. He also worked as a plumber for Vaughn Industries.  Bob was a Reverend who married many people. He enjoyed attending Gospel Sings and country music.  A funeral service will begin at

3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Russ McMillion officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 Thursday until the time of service. Full military rites will be conducted by Amvets Post 1994. Bob’s wishes were to be cremated following his service.  Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Bob to the family c/o Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home.
