Obituary for Melvin Turner

Melvin Turner, age 91, of Kenton, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Belle Springs Nursing Home, Bellefontaine.  Melvin was born April 22, 1927 to the late Coda and Flossie (Neal) Turner.  On April 20, 1947 he married the love of his life Betty Pfeiffer (Daughter of Harold and Savilla Pfeiffer).  She survives, along with their daughters; Marcia (Terry Joe) Supan of Illinois, Marilyn (Bruce) McPheron of Columbus, Sara (Doug) Hoenshel of Kenton, and Melva Jeanne (Lee) Roof of Ridgeway, a brother; Norman Lee Turner, son-in-laws; Ron Grunden and Ed (Cindy) Ruggles, grandchildren; Eissa (Brad) Smazenko, Branda (Rob) Keehn, Keary (Dina) Supan, Neale (Kiley) McPheron, Brenna McPheron, Eli (Jenn) Ruggles, Joshua Ruggles, Kayla (Dan) Edwards, Keera (Richard) McClaren, Jarrod (Corrine) Hoenshel, Benjamin Roof, Lyndon Roof, 24 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

 

Melvin was preceded in death by his daughters Melinda Grunden and Savilla Ruggles; brother Myron (Jack) Turner, a sister; Joy Dale Shipp, and a granddaughter; Janet Supan.

 

Melvin was a lifelong farmer and he also worked at and retired from Rockwell.  He loved fishing, hunting, and carpentry.  But, most of all he loved his family.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM  Thursday, April 25, 2019 at SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 5:00-8:00PM at the funeral home.  Pastor Steve Walters and Pastor Mark Bishop will be officiating the services.

Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society or Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  Online
