Funeral services for Lester Johns will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at The Price – McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Pastor Tim Pasma officiating. Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville with military rites by Amvets Post 1994. Friends and family may visit from 3:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the funeral home.

He died on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at his residence. He was born on December 21, 1920 in Bellefontaine to the late Mort and Modd (Jones) Johns. On January 3, 1942 he married Gertrude Marie Neal and she preceded him in death on April 25, 2011.
Surviving are a daughter; Connie (Phil) Wroten of Moral. 6 Grandchildren, 5 GreatGrandchildren and 6 Great – Great Grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter; Irene Louise Beamont. 2 sisters; Helen Zimmerman and Ellen Ramsey. 2 brothers; Claude Johns and Oval Johns.

Lester was a proud World War II veteran whom was honored to fight for his country. He served in the Army and fought in the Philippines against the Japanese.
After the war, Lester work for the New York Central and the Erie Lackawanna Railroads. He did various jobs for them, but worked a total of 43 years before retiring.
He was a member of the Kenton Eagles and the Hardin County Council of Ageing.
Lester was very social and loved to talk to people. He could often be found at the Kenton McDonalds just talking with and meeting new people. He also loved to dance and spent a lot of time out on the Kenton Eagles dance floor. If he wasn’t dancing, Lester could be found at home, working in his garden.

Memorial donations may be made to the LaRue Baptist Church or the Amvets Post 1994.
