of Kenton
Services for James C. Hale will be private. Burial with military rites by Amvets Post 1994 will take place at Grove Cemetery.  A public visitation will take place at a later date. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
James died on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at The OSU James Cancer Center in Columbus. He was born on August 23, 1939 in Kenton to the late Curtis and Ruby (Van Buskirk) Hale. On March 27, 1961 he married Loretta Manns and she preceded him in death on January 7, 1990.
Surviving are a daughter; Cindy (Larry) McGinnis of Kenmare, N.D., a son; James “Jimmy” (Jennifer Gresham) Hale of Kenton, 2 sisters; Patricia Castle of Kenton, Sarah Mendez of Houston, TX, 2 brothers; Paul Hale of Kenton, Danny (Rose) Hale of Mt. Victory, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son; John Hale, and 3 grandchildren; Julie Spencer, Brittan Ratliff, and Jason Hale.
James a proud U.S. Navy Veteran.
He was a member of the Amvets Post 1994 in Kenton, the Kenton Moose and the Kenton Eagles.
James loved antique tractors. He enjoyed working on them and was a lifetime member of the Antique Tractor Club in Kenton, where he would drive his tractor in a lot of the annual parades.
He was also an avid sports fan. His favorite teams included The OSU Buckeyes, the Indians, the browns, and of course the Kenton Wildcats. He always attended his grandchildren’s sporting events whenever he could.
James loved people and never knew a stranger. He met a lot of new people especially when he would join his friends at McDonalds to drink coffee and chat.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Amvets Post 1994.
