Marion Tech Announces Several Upcoming Events

(Marion) Marion Tech has a series of exciting community events coming up. The public is invited to take part.

On Thursday, November 12, at 6:30 p.m. Marion Tech will host the Forge business competition on Facebook live. Local entrepreneurs will compete in this “Shark Tank- style competition to win $2,500 in seed money for the best business plan and $1,000 for the best nonprofit plan.

Past competitors included the owners of Attaboys, the Explore-It-Torium, the Main Squeeze, Jordan Energy Solutions, the Sweada Mae Art Cafe and more. Sponsors include the Marion Community Foundation, Marion Young Professionals, the United Way and Verne Hart Insurance as well as several anonymous donors.

On Thursday, November 19, Marion Tech will induct four alumni into the Alumni Hall of Fame. The event will start with appetizers and desserts at 5:30 p.m. in the Health Technologies Center. The induction will begin at 6 p.m. in the auditorium and live online. This year’s inductees include:

.Johnis M. Tyler Gribbin, a retired director of human resources at West Central Community Correctional Facility

.Harold May, warden at Richland Correctional Facility

.Krista Mulvaine, Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Perkins Grant Administrator at Marion Tech

.Ritch Ramey, retired director of RAMTEC at Tri-Rivers Career Center

On Thursday, Dec. 3, the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Business After Hours ribbon cutting event for Marion Tech Downtown at the college’s newest campus located at 107 North Main. Tour the new location for Marion Tech’s Workforce Solutions, Aspire GED prep classes and more.
