Man Takes His Own Life Following Standoff Near Indian Lake

A domestic violence situation Tuesday near Indian Lake ended with a man taking his own life.

 

WPKO Radio reported that the Logan County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Village Pantry in Russells Point in reference to a domestic disturbance that occurred at a residence on Elm Street.

 

The victim told deputies that she was held at gunpoint and was struck multiple times by the suspect, who was using a handgun.

 

She also said the man fired the gun inside the residence.

 

At the Elm Street location, deputies asked the suspect to come outside but he refused.

 

After around 4 hours of negotiations, the Special Response Team from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene.

 

When the SRT forced their way into the home, they heard a gunshot.

 

The suspect had shot himself in the head and was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

 

His name is not being released at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.
