On March 21st Kenton High School held their annual winter sports banquet. Athletic Director, Joey Day, congratulated each sports team on their success and thanked the student-athletes on their sacrifices and dedication.
Day commented on all the pieces that make up a strong program: "There are a lot of working parts that come together to make it work. It's not a one man show." Day wanted to recognize each coach, parent, administrator and student-athlete that worked tirelessly to make this a successful Winter season.
Day also thanked retiring girls basketball head coach, Ryan Miller. Day remarked that Miller has "set the expectation of success" for a sports program throughout his years of coaching. Especially this season, as Miller lead his team to their first sectional title in 20 years.
Booster Awards were given to: Senior Cheerleader Mackenzie Phillips, Junior Boys Basketball Player Tye Sherman, Senior Girls Basketball Player Tawnie Keen, Senior Female Bowler Mariana Smith, Senior Male Bowler Lucian Lay, Junior Female Swimmer Haley Hunt, Senior Male Swimmer Mason Bloom, and Freshman Wrestler Carter Bays.
The teams then split off into their single meetings, where coaches reflected back on the season and each team and individual accomplishment. Every coach commented on the hard work, dedication, and positivity within these student athletes; emphasizing the potential that each one has for the next season or the future as the seniors move on to the next chapter of their life.
