The body of a man missing after a fire near Alger this past Sunday has been found.

 

According to a release from the Hardin County Sheriff's Office, the body of 65 year old Hugh Ries was discovered Monday in a crawl space beneath the rubble of the collapsed kitchen.

 

The fire was reported Sunday afternoon at the home located at 0529 County Road 80. Ries was the only person known to be in the house at the time.

 

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office, the Hardin County Fire and Explosion Investigation Team and Ohio BCI&I are assisting the Alger Fire Department. The cause of the fire is still undetermined and remains under investigation.

 

The investigation is also being aided by the Hardin County Crime Task Force, Ohio State Highway Patrol aircraft, Hardin County Coroner's Office, Hardin County Sheriff's Volunteers in Police Service and Osborn's Towing.
