Kenton Wrestlers Place 7th at Weekend Match

Kenton High School Wrestling team places 7th at the Division II OSHAA Sectional wrestling tournament in Clyde, Ohio. Kenton qualifies three wrestlers to advance to the OSHAA District finals in Norwalk. Noah Eikenbary (220) claims his second straight sectional championship. Carter Bays (152) qualified for the second straight year while Ethan Manns (170) will be making his first appearance at districts.

Eikenbary defeated Creighton Morton a freshmen from Upper Sandusky with a pinfall at the 1:29 mark in the first period. Eikenbary then defeats Ben seavers a Junior wrestler from Clyde with pinfall at 1:13 in the first period .Noah took on number two seed Max Fausnaugh of Bowling Green. Beating Fausnaugh in a 8-2 regular decision securing Eikenbary’s 3rd straight district appearance

Ethan Manns Kenton’s 170 lbs wrestler and #3 seed started his day with a10-1 major decision win over Braxton Johnson of Upper Sandusky. Manns then dropped his next Match to Collin Corapi of Bellevue in a 7-0 regular decision. Manns then bounced back with a 2-0 decision over Garrett Chester of Columbian. Manns wins his final match of the day with a 3-1 decision over Hank Webb of Clyde. Given Manns 3rd place finish and his first shot at districts.

Carter bay Kenton’s 152 lbs wrestler qualified to make his second straight district appearance. Bays entered the tournament as a #3 seed beating Hugh Beier of Bellevue in a 12-0 major decision victory. Bays lost his next match to number two seed Mason Elson of Port Clinton in a 14-6 major decision. Bay the comes back to beats number four seed Tyler Wilson of Maumee in a 5-3 decision. Bays secured his spot at districts with a 4th place finish losing to Brock Minnick of Columbian in a hard fought 8-6 decision.

Qualifying as district Alternates are Mason Rhoades , Josh Hart and Josh Davis.The three kenton wrestler hope to have a chance to represent the wildcats at District. Kenton will be traveling to Norwalk this coming Friday and Saturday for the Division II District Championships.
