Kenton Man Accused of Stealing a Vehicle, Leading Police on Pursuit in Allen County

A robbery and pursuit involving a Kenton man occurred in Allen County over the 4th of July weekend.

 

Hometown Stations is reporting that Matthew Manns is alleged to have stolen a vehicle by threatening the owner with physical harm.

 

After Lima police tried to stop the car a pursuit was initiated.

 

After reaching a high rate of speed and lasting around 15 minutes, stop sticks were used and the stolen vehicle came to rest in a cornfield in Hardin County.

 

Matthew Manns was arrested and transported to the Allen County Jail where two days later, he was found unresponsive in his cell with a sheet around his neck.

 

Manns was revived after medical assistance was administered, but he began banging his head against the concrete floor in an effort and was then taken to St. Rita’ Medical Center.

 

After being treated there, he was returned to jail and is awaiting a preliminary hearing on the burglary charge.

 

That is scheduled for Monday July 13.
