Kenton Little Board Discusses League Procedures on COVID-19

The Kenton Little League Executive Board met Thursday, March 12, 2020 to consider the age divisions for the upcoming baseball/softball seasons and to discuss league procedures in response to the increasing spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Board made the following decisions:

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

In consideration of the health and safety of our players and their families, the Board decided to:

.Cancel tryouts for the 2020 season originally scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2020 with no makeup date.

.Suspend all Little League player related activities through April 3, 2020.

.Close the batting cages starting Monday, March 16, 2020 through April 3, 2020.

.Re-evaluate the situation as we approach April 3, 2020.

Age Divisions / Draft

In light of the number of registrations received through March 12, 2020, the Board decided to:

.Reorganize the players into the following divisions (baseball only – age as of August 31, 2020):

-Majors – player ages 9 – 12

-2nd Farm – player ages 6 – 8

-T-Ball – player ages 4 – 5

.Utilize a blind draft for the 2020 season (no tryouts).

.Draft players on March 24, 2020 and March 25, 2020.

All decisions were made in consultation with recommendations made by Little League International (found here) and were not made lightly. We ask that everyone involved please bear with us as we navigate this tumultuous time.
