Kenton High School Coed Varsity Wrestling Finishes 8th at Sectionals

The Kenton Wildcat grapplers Noah Eikenbary, Mason Rhoades, Carter Bays and alternate Ethan Manns advanced to the OSHAA District Wrestling Tournament in Troy, Ohio.

Eikenbary(220 lbs) leads the wildcats winning his third straight sectional title and his fourth trip to districts. Eikenbary a 2019 state qualifier hopes to repeat that again this year. Eikenbary was a #1 seed for the sectional tournament started his tournament with a 9-2 decision over #4 seed Darius Clark of Spencerville. Eikenbary finished off his district bid with a 8-0 major decision win over Eli Cribez of Allen East.

Mason Rhoades will be making his second appearence at districts after finishing in third place. Rhoades a #4 seed in the 170 lbs weigh group started his bid with a 5-4 decision over Allen East’s #5 seed Caleb Welch. Rhoades drops by a 15-0 tech fall match to #1 seed Chase Martin of Delphos St. Johns. Mason rebounds with a pin fall @ 1:28 over Shane Ontrop of Coldwater. Rhoades secured his trip to districts with a second win over Welch of Allen East in a 6-2 decision

Carter Bays (160lbs) earned his third straight trip to districts with pinfalls over Jordan Vogt, Columbus Grove ( @ 3:20) and Dylan Bower of Lincolnview (pinfall @1:32). Bays suffered an injury in his match against Bower decided to take medical voids in two matches. Bays defeated Ben McKee of Delphos Jefferson with a pinfall at 2:30 securing his 4th place finish.

Ethan Manns (182lbs) will still have a chance to wrestle at districts with a 5th place finish he will be an district alternate. Manns dropped his first two matches of the sectional. Caleb Stammen (#3 seed) won by 4-3 decision and Devin Anspach won by pinning Manns at 3:49 in their match. Manns bounces back with a pinfall at 2:31 over Heath Gaskill of spencerville.
